Short Trips
Enjoy your holiday on motorbike surrounded by the fascinating landscapes of the Andes in Salta and Jujuy. A short trip to Iruya, Humahuaca, Cafayate, Cachi, the Calchaquí valley, the salt lakes, or along the Train to the Clouds will make your holidays in Argentina unforgettable.
We offer many different short trips of 1 to 3 days, from 300 to 600 km.
Short Trip 1: Quebrada de Humahuaca, 2 Days
The tour first leads us on a curvaceous tarmac road through densly wooded hills to Jujuy. Here we enter the picturesque Quebrada de Humahuaca, a valley which was declared World-heritage by the UNESCO in 2003 for its unique landscapes and culture.
In Tilacara we'll visit the important ruins of the Pre-Inca fort Pucará de Tilcara.
Driving over a 4000 m high pass we'll reach the Puna, the companion piece to the Bolivian Altiplano.
Be dazzled by the glaring whiteness of the planes of Salinas Grandes, one of Saltas the biggest salt-lakes. From San Antionio de los Cobres we'll descent to the picturesque valley Quebrada del Toro to reach Salta.
About 570 km, of that about 150 km on gravel.
Short Trip 2: Quebrada de Cafayate, 1 Day
We leave Salta southwards following the Lerma Valley until it suddenly narrows to a canyon: the Quebrada de Cafayate. This beautiful canyon strikes with its red sandstone formations, weathered by wind and water to bizarre forms, some of them called The Frog, The Obelisc or the Amphitheatre.
After about a hundred km of stunning landscapes we'll reach Cafayate, the Wine Capital of Salta located between Sand dunes and mountain chains.
There you can visit an ancient mill, a historic church, and a winery.
The way back will show you the Quebrada de Cafayate reddened by the evening sun.
About 400 km on tarmac road.
Short Trip 3: Salinas Grandes, 1 Day
The tour first leads us on a curvaceous tarmac road through densly wooded hills to Jujuy.

From San Antionio de los Cobres we'll descent to the picturesque valley Quebrada del Toro to reach Salta.
About 480 km, of that about 150 km on gravel.
Short Trip 4: Cachi, 1 Day
The road will take us over the Pass Los Molinos into the National Park Los Cardones: Thousands of Cardon cactuses grow here, in the usually thinly vegetated region.
We'll reach the mountain village Cachi. It is overshadowed by the more than 6000 m high mountain chain Nevado del Cachi. You can visit the anthropological museum and the picturesque village.

Climate & Season
The climate of the Calchaquí valleys is very pleasant: they receive little rain, because the rain clouds coming from the east are blocked by the first mountain ranges. Temperatures are moderate even in winter, although at night it can get quite cold, but in the daytime temperatures rise to 20-30°C. Dry winds are common, and even in the rainy season rainfalls are rare. The altitude (around 3000m) intensifies the effects of the ever-present sun (don't forget your sunscreen and sunglasses!).
Kurztour 5: Iruya mit Wanderung, 3-4 Tage
Am ersten Tag führt uns die Motorradfahrt über eine kurvenreiche Teerstraße durch bewaldete Berge nach Jujuy. Dort öffnet sich die malerische Quebrada de Humahuaca, eine Schlucht die wegen ihrer einzigartigen Landschaften und ihrem kulturellem Reichtum nicht zu unrecht zum Welt Kulturerbe erklärt wurde. In Tilcara besichtigen wir die Ruinen des Festungsdorfs Pucará de Tilcara aus der Vor-Inka Zeit.
Über eine kurvige Schotterstraße erreichen wir den Pass Abra del Condor und das bezaubernde Bergdorf Iruya, das von bunten Felswänden umgeben an einer Engstelle des Tals liegt.
Bei 3 Tagen: 1 Tag wandern
Am zweiten Tag wandern wir in der bunten Berglandschaft von Iruya, lernen das Dorf San Isidro kennen und erklimmen Sie ein Hochplateau mit bezaubernder Aussicht auf die umliegenden, tief eingeschnittenen Täler.
Bei 4 Tagen: 2 Tage wandern
Wir wandern mit einem Führer über das Dorf San Isidro und einen fast 4000 m hohen Pass nach San Juan, ein nur zu Fuß zu erreichendes Dörfchen in einem einsamen Tal. Dort wird in einer sehr einfachen Hütte übernachtet. Am nächsten Tag geht es hinauf zu einem das Hochplateau mit wunderbarer Aussicht auf das bunte Tal von Iruya und die umliegenden Täler, zurück ins Hotel und zu den Motorrädern. Wir übernachten in Iruya.
Wieder auf den Motorrädern geht es wieder zurück über den Abra del Condor und durch die Quebrada de Humahuaca zurück nach Purmamarca wo wir den Aufstieg in die Puna bewältigen und zu den Salinas Grandes vorstoßen. Lassen Sie sich blenden von den grellen Ebenen der Salinas Grandes, einem der größten Salzseen Saltas. Von San Antonio de los Cobres geht es dann durch die malerische Quebrada del Toro zurück nach Salta.
